Slovenia will participate in this year's iteration of the oldest world exhibition, which has been promoting knowledge, creating business opportunities and looking for answers to the challenges faced by humanity since 1851. It will take place between 1 October 2021 and 31 March 2022 in Dubai, making the UAE the first Arab country to host the Expo. It will feature a record 190 countries, with Slovenia one of the countries with their own purpose-built pavilions.
The main topics of Expo 2020 will be mobility, opportunity and sustainability, with Slovenia featured in the sustainability segment. Every day, the country's pavilion will host business gatherings, offer gastronomic experiences and a variety of surprises. A visit to an Expo is always a special experience with added value because it opens gates to new business partnerships and opportunities.
Slovenia is the green heart of Europe, known for its breathtaking natural and cultural heritage. In 2016, the country held the title Green Destination, a reward for its efforts in responsible development of sustainable tourism. It is the only country in the world that has enshrined the right to clean drinking water in its Constitution. To experience Slovenia is to experience pure beauty, be it on walks through vast forests or picturesque towns or on descents into the mysterious underground world of the most beautiful Karst caves or on climbs to Alpine peaks with spectacular views.
Slovenia's devotion to the principles of responsible development is epitomised by the bee, an irreplaceable creature that drives the unstoppable circle of life, growth and renewal of all ecosystems. To raise awareness about the importance of the balance between man, nature and technology, Slovenia spearheaded efforts that in 2017 led the UN to declared 20 May World Bee Day. Our dedication to responsible development is reflected in extensive investments in projects for quality and safe living, an environment conducive to business and an innovative ecosystem that seeks tangible answers to global challenges. Slovenia is recognised as a country that inspires investors, researchers and those who love good life.
